Palm Wi-Fi card price range: $149.99

We tested the card on the Zire 72, and it worked like a charm. Installation and setup were a snap--an Install Wizard guides you through the steps--and after a HotSync operation, the Wi-Fi Setup and VPN Setup utilities and the Web Pro browser app were installed on our device. Then, using the Wi-Fi Setup utility, we selected a network and connected to a hot spot within seconds. You can also use the app to check signal strength, establish disconnect time, and set up WEP (wired equivalent privacy) encryption. We opened Web Pro and had some problems connecting to a site at first, but after disabling the proxy server, we were off and running--or, perhaps, just jogging. Admittedly, it took a bit for Web pages to load, but that's to be expected on a PDA.
While you can use both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at the same time, PalmOne recommends disabling Bluetooth since it may interfere with signal quality. A final word to the wise: Wi-Fi saps a lot of power, so keep an eye on battery life. The PalmOne Wi-Fi SD card costs $129 and will be available the first week of September.

good choice
Pros: I added the card to my T3 and WOW...now I have wireless internet! This is awesome.
Cons: Wait so...you all are giving bad reviews to a product that you have never used because it doesn't support your Palm...Thats like a guy complaining about a a pair of pantyhoes because the company didn't offer a jock strap.

Junk product from a Dying company

Summary: This product is inferior. Nearly all WiFi routers, access points, and cards support encryption in WEP and WPA. This only supports WEP. WPA is used more and more, yet they didn't support it when they created this card. Instead, they only support WPA on their newest, expensive "Life Drive". In fact, SanDisk tried to create a WiFi card for the Palm, but Palm wouldnt cooperate. Who wants to do business with a company as backward thinking who misses modern technology in a new product.

great add on
Pros: its funny how all of the cons are from people who don't own a product that this device is compatible on...if you've actually tried it. THIS is a great ad on.
Cons: wish it had memory on it too

Great Product; Easy to Use

Summary: Installation was a breeze. I installed the software and inserted the WiFi card. By merely entering my WEP key, I had wireless access to the Internet almost instantly. The PalmOne Wifi card is an excellent investment if you really need it.
Although it doesnt have built-in memory like the "Sandisk", that so many people wish to have, it does have excellent range. I do not need to face this problem for I own a Tungsten T5. You must expect drainage of battery, because it is a wireless device! Many people complain about this. The new Palm TX with integrated WiFi faces the some problem when the WiFi is turned on.
People must also stop giving bad reviews of this product, just because it does not support your device. Of the Palm-based devices that are incompatible, this is because the SD/MMC/SDIO slot cannot support the data throughput.
To only true problem that i see with this is the fact that is sticks out of the Palm device. If not taken care of properly, you might easily break it.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Helpful for the few times it worked

Summary: I bought this card to connect with my Palm T5 (that's a whole other story. The card worked at first (although only sometimes) but started to fall apart pretty quickly. I had to break off the pieces around the card connection because they kept moving over and therefore not allowing it to connect to the palm properly. Graduallly, it's just fallen apart. Could be because when it actually works, it gets so hot, it probably melts it's case! Not to mention it drains the battery so you only really get maybe an hour on a fully charged T5.I don't know which is worse anymore, my T5 or this card. You can't really do much with it anyways, because without the storage on the device, you can't download a lot of pages (because you'd have to take out the card and insert the SD card (which of course cuts you off the web). For the $100 to replace it, i may as well put the money towards a wifi device now!

Good Implementation of a Bad Idea
by xrayvizhen on July 1, 2006
Pros: It works...you can get to the internet on your Palm.
Cons: How much of the internet can you see on a Palm? Not Much. Blazer awkward to use. Frequent resets necessary. Drains the battery dry very quickly.

Summary: I've seen reviews that said that the Palm Wi-Fi card was a poor implmementation of a good idea. I disagree. It might seem like a good idea to be able to get to the internet on your Palm, but I experimented with wi-fi on both the Palm T/X with it's built-in wi-fi and the E-2 with the Palm wi-fi card, and while the T/X is a smidge better because of the larger screen, in reality, there's not much of the internet that can be seen on a Palm. I wanted the wi-fi card mainly to get corporate e-mail on my E-2, but while Versamail is a barely acceptable e-mail reader on the T/X, (and the need to purchase a VPN client was unexpected) on the E-2,while the VPN client is included, there's not enough memory to view attachements and the frequency of fatal errors and soft resets increased exponentially with its use. I found that hunting around for a wi-fi hot spot just to access e-mail is really a pain so overall, this experiment proved to me that wi-fi on a PDA is a waste.
I'll be experimenting next with a Treo 700P utilizing Verizon's EVDO network, but if I have the same problems with the VPN client and Versamail as I had on the E-2, then that experiment may not work as well. -
Treo 650 drivers on the way
Pros: Before purchasing my Treo 650, I called in separately to both PalmOne's support and sales groups to ask if the P10952U is compatible with the 650. I was told by both departments that drivers were in the works. The 650 is a slick device and I look forward
Cons: - I still have to wait! - No extra memory like the less expensive SanDisk product. The 650 especially needs the extra mem.

T3 is the business users palm
Pros: Great addition for the T3. Palm needed to have their premier screen "real estate" device to be wireless. This product allows you to have both wireless and the large screen. Great job PalmOne.
Cons:
-
PalmOne What about the Treo600????
Pros: WiFi Card Finally.....
Cons: Nothing other than the T3. The world does not revolve around the T3 folks. This kind of narrow minded support will be the total and utter downfall of Palm for both the OS and Hardware. Forcing folks to buy this or than instead of allowing legacy to use
-
great idea bad execution
Pros: it is here...finally
Cons: the worst support ever, for some reason palm stuck to its t3 method, i hope they rethink they policy
